Dr Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela
Dr Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela is the founder and chairperson of the iKDT Board of Trustees. She holds a PhD degree from Warwick University in the UK, a BEd and MBL from the School of Business Leadership at Unisa, a BCom and UED from Rhodes University. Since October 2013 she has held the position of Special Advisor and is currently Advisor to the Minister in the Department of International Relations and Coorperation (Dirco) in South Africa (previously in Ministry of Higher Education and Training; Ministry of Science and Technology). She is also an Adjunct Professor of Public Policy and Leadership at the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Nelson Mandela School of Governance. Before 1994, she was a research specialist at Rhodes University and joined the new South African public service thereafter, serving in senior management roles in departments such as Education, Trade and Industry. She has executive experience as an Accounting Officer in all three spheres of the South African public sector as national Director General (DG), provincial Head of Department and City Manager. Whilst at the helm of the National Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs(previously Department of Provincial and Local Government, DPLG) as DG for seven years, she successfully managed a budget, which grew from R6 billion in 2002 to R32 billion by 2009, targeting mainly social infrastructure and basic services. All her Department’s Annual Reports to Parliament received positive audit opinions from the Auditor General. During this period, she also served in high-level technical committees in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) board and the Forum of South African Director Generals (FOSAD) Management Committee. In all her professional and community service roles, Dr Msengana-Ndlela has demonstrated a strong sense of humility, judgement, personal integrity and principled action.

Ms Viwe Mtshonthi
Ms Viwe Mtshonthi is an iKDT Trustee and holds a B.A. HED in Psychology and Sociology (University of Fort Hare), a B. Ed in Education and Development (Wits) and an M.A. in Human Resource Development (George Washington University, USA). She is currently the Chief of Party in South Africa of the School-Based Sexuality and HIV Prevention Activity at the Education Development Center (EDC), an international NGO. She has been in this role since 2015. This is a collaborative, cross-sectoral project between the education and the health sectors to reduce the high rate of teen pregnancy, prevent new HIV infections, and to provide care and support to students already infected with HIV. Prior to this she was Director of Public Private Partnerships at FHI 360 supporting nutrition and economic strengthening projects in the context of HIV-AIDS. She has also served as the Leadership Program Director of the Kellogg Southern Africa, a leadership initiative that developed young people from seven SADC countries to uplift their families from poverty.At AED, she was the Regional Director of Southern Africa and was responsible for the general oversight of the South Africa portfolio Her career started in education as a Maths, English Second Language and Career Guidance teacher in high school. Outside of the classroom, she got more involved in teacher-led initiatives that provided relevant professional development needs to teachers in a transforming South Africa. She became a co-founder of the Institute for Partnership between Education and Business (IPEB) where she facilitated collaborations between corporate sector and education. Upon completion of her studies, she worked at AED in the USA till she came to lead the regional office in South Africa in 2009 and currently the ECD’s Chief of Party.
Mr Siyabulela Tsengiwe
Mr Siyabulela Tsengiwe is an iKDT Trustee. He holds degrees in B Comm, BEd and Masters in Public & Development Management. He currently serves in the Ministry of Economic Development having completed his term of office as the Chief Commissioner of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) in 2017. He joined ITAC in 2002 and in 2005 became General Manager responsible for managing and coordinating ITAC’s core functions of Tariff Investigations, Trade Remedies, Import Control and Export Control. He has participated in bilateral, regional and multilateral trade negotiations in support of the Department of Trade and Industry. Before 2002 he served government in various capacities nationally and in the Eastern Cape province.
Ms Tembela Kulu
Ms Tembela Kulu is an iKDT Trustee. She holds an Honours Degree in Business Administration (University of Cape Town). Currently,
she is the Deputy Chief Operations Officer of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation. She is an outstanding executive with impeccable operational
management experience. Previously, she served as an Executive Manager responsible for Commuter Rail for 10 years when she was coming
from Heading Special Operations in the South African Police Service for 6 years. She started her career in Strategy Communication Management
in different organisations where she functioned up to a General Management level. In 2015, Tembela received the 2015 Business Women of the Year
(Public Sector) Award by Business Women Association of SA (BWASA). Tembela is a social and gender activist who champions the development of the youth and women empowerment.
